Bonnie Salsman
Bonnie Salsman, RPh, B.Sc. (Pharm) FCSHP, has extensive hospital pharmacy experience in clinical and administrative roles, as
well as nine years of consulting experience. She has contributed extensively to professional pharmacy
journals, and has given presentations on medication safety, pharmacy and management topics to a
variety of audiences. She has been involved in advocacy efforts for medication and patient safety for
over a decade and was a representative to the Canadian Coalition for Medication Incident Reporting and
Prevention, the group that spearheaded the development of a business plan for the Canadian Medication
Incident Reporting and Prevention System. She was a member of the National Steering Committee on
Patient Safety, a member of the Founding Board of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and a member
of the Healthcare Safety Advisory Committee for the province of Nova Scotia. She is a Past President
of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) and a past Board member of the Pharmacy
Association of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Board and the CSHP Board of
Fellows. Bonnie has conducted numerous pharmacy operational and medication safety reviews and has
assisted several health jurisdictions with the development of plans for pharmacy services. She has
worked with ISMP Canada on a variety of medication safety initiatives, including the development of
recommendations for the safe use of automated dispensing cabinets and the development of the
SafeMedicationUse.ca website.
